WHY YOU GET DARKER LONGER

Research supports the fact that high-pressure systems do provide a deeper, darker and longer-lasting tan when compared to low-pressure systems. This occurs because longer wavelengths of UVA (HP LIGHT) penetrate deeper into the skin than do shorter wavelengths of UVB wavelengths (many LOW Pressure lamps - tube style) and, therefore, are able to oxidize melanin granules farther away from the surface of the skin. These deeper-oxidized (tanned) granules take longer to reach the surface of the skin and allow for a deeper tan with a longer life. fact: you tanned melanin will continue to rise to the surface over several weeks.

WHAT IS HIGH PRESSURE (HP)

High-pressure tanning systems utilize lamps filled with mercury vapors that produce very high UV (Tanning Light) intensity levels.

Special filters are used to remove unwanted wavelengths of UVR, primarily UVB and shorter wavelengths of UVA (320 nm-340 nm), leaving most of the longer wavelengths of UVA (340 nm- 400 nm) intact. This allows the high-pressure spectrum to produce a deeper, darker, longer-lasting tan.

WHAT IS LOW PRESSURE TANNING



Any tanning bed with florescent light (long tubes) is a low pressure bed. Some of the higher end low pressure beds incorporate High Pressure lamps in the facial area. The technology in low pressure has been getting close in some respects to deliver more of the UVA ray or Bronzing rays but they all fall short of the shear volume of UVA that High Pressure beds deliver. How do you know when you are on a quality High Pressure (HP) Tanning Bed?

Q: Do you feel hot spots on your legs, arms, face or other areas. Does it get so hot you feel like you are cooking?

A: If yes, you were probably on a poorly balanced HP bed. This means that the bed has either poor air-circulation or more commonly poor design in equal light strength. A properly engineered HP bed needs sophisticated calculations with respect to lamp strength and distance/angle to skin. The MasterSun 360's design delivers equal tanning strength that makes your tanning experience enjoyable - not an endurance contest.

Q: Do you get inconsistent results?

A: The way HP lamps work are directly related to how hot they get. If you go into a bed that does not properly ventilate the lights, they will over heat and work much less efficiently that if cooler. This can be a problem on hot days or right after someone else tanned in the bed. The MasterSun 360 will keep the lamps so cool that the acrylic you lay on is cool to the touch no mater how many people tanned before you.

Q: Is the HP bed you tan in down for repairs or running with burned out lights often?

A: Now that the benefits of HP tanning are well recognized, there has been mad rush to develop HP tanning systems. Many of these systems have only been out for a few years and are still getting the bugs worked out.
